Requesting time off or a salary advance used to mean hunting down your manager, filling out a paper form, and then waiting with no idea what was happening. In the Houra Employee Portal, every request is submitted digitally in under a minute, routed automatically to the right person for approval, and visible to you in real time. You can see the status of every request you’ve ever made — and get notified the moment something changes — all without sending a single follow-up message.

Types of requests

The portal supports three categories of requests:

Vacation

Request paid vacation days from your available balance. Your remaining balance is always visible in the portal.

Leave & Permits

Request personal leave, sick days, or special permits — for medical appointments, family events, and other circumstances.

Salary Advance

Request an advance on your salary before your regular payday and track its status in real time.

How to request vacation days

1

Open Requests

From the portal’s main navigation, tap Solicitudes / Requests, then tap Nueva solicitud / New Request.
2

Select 'Vacation'

Choose Vacaciones / Vacation as the request type.
3

Choose your dates

Select the start date and end date for your vacation. The portal will show you how many working days you’re requesting and your current remaining vacation balance.
4

Add a note (optional)

You can include a short message for your manager — for example, context about coverage or a reason for the timing.
5

Submit the request

Tap Enviar / Submit. Your manager and HR team are notified automatically.
Your vacation balance — for example, Vacaciones: 12 días — is shown on the portal home screen. You can also see a full breakdown in the Requests section.

4

Include any relevant information your manager or HR team may need, such as a doctor’s note reference or a brief explanation.
6

Some leave types may require documentation. If your company has configured document requirements for a specific leave category, you’ll be prompted to attach or reference the relevant file before submitting.

How to request a salary advance

1

Open Requests

From the main navigation, tap Solicitudes / Requests, then tap Nueva solicitud / New Request.
2

Select 'Salary Advance'

Choose Adelanto de sueldo / Salary Advance as the request type.
3

Enter the amount

4

Add a reason (optional)

A brief explanation can help your manager process the request faster, though it’s typically optional.
5

Submit the request

Tap Enviar / Submit. Your request is sent to your manager and HR for approval.
Salary advances are subject to your company’s policy and available balance. Approval is not guaranteed. If you have questions about limits or eligibility, speak with your HR administrator before submitting.

Tracking request status

All your active and past requests are visible in the Solicitudes / Requests section of the portal. The home screen also shows a summary — for example, Solicitudes: 1 activa — so you always know if something is pending. Each request displays one of the following statuses:
StatusMeaning
Pendiente / PendingYour request has been submitted and is awaiting review.
Aprobado / ApprovedYour manager or HR has approved the request.
Rechazado / DeclinedThe request was not approved. You’ll receive a notification with details.
Enable push notifications in the portal so you’re alerted the moment your request status changes — no need to keep checking manually.

What happens after approval

  • Vacation and leave — Your approved time off is reflected in your schedule automatically. Your vacation balance updates to show the remaining days.
  • Salary advance — Your HR or payroll administrator processes the advance according to your company’s payment schedule. You’ll receive a notification when it’s been processed.
Your manager or HR administrator is responsible for approving all requests. If a request has been pending for longer than expected, you can follow up with them directly — but you don’t need to resubmit unless they ask you to.
