Most issues in Houra have a quick fix. This page walks you through the most common problems organized by area — find the category that matches your situation and follow the steps to resolve it. If none of these solutions work, you can always contact the Houra team for direct support.

Account & Login

Symptom: You enter your credentials but see an error message, or the page doesn’t respond.Solutions:
  1. Double-check that you’re using the correct email address — the one your HR admin used to invite you.
  2. Make sure Caps Lock is off and there are no extra spaces in your password.
  3. Click Forgot your password? on the sign-in page to receive a password reset link by email.
  4. Check your spam or junk folder if the reset email doesn’t arrive within a few minutes.
  5. If you still can’t access your account, ask your HR admin to confirm your account is active and the email address on file is correct.
Symptom: Your HR admin says they sent you an invitation, but you haven’t received it.Solutions:
  1. Check your spam, junk, or promotions folder — invitation emails sometimes get filtered.
  2. Search your inbox for emails from @houra.app.
  3. If you still can’t find it, ask your HR admin to go to Employees → [Your Name] → Resend invitation. A new email will be sent to your address.
  4. Confirm with your admin that the email address they used is correct — a typo at setup is the most common cause of missing invitations.

Clock-In & Attendance

Symptom: You point your phone’s camera at the QR code but nothing happens, or the Employee Portal shows an error.Solutions:
  1. Make sure you’ve granted the Houra Employee Portal camera permissions on your device. On iOS, go to Settings → Safari → Camera. On Android, check Settings → Apps → Browser → Permissions.
  2. Ensure you’re scanning the correct QR code for your location — each site has its own unique code.
  3. Hold your phone steady and ensure the QR code is well-lit and fully within the camera frame.
  4. Try closing and reopening the Employee Portal, then attempt the scan again.
  5. If the problem persists, ask your HR admin to confirm the QR code for your location is active and correctly configured.
Symptom: You left work without clocking out, and your attendance record shows an open shift or incorrect hours.Solution: Contact your HR admin and let them know the date, your expected clock-out time, and any context (such as leaving early or working overtime). Your admin can correct the attendance record manually from Attendance → [Your Name] → Edit record.
Symptom: You clocked in or out, but the record doesn’t appear in the Employee Portal or the admin panel.Solutions:
  1. Check your internet connection at the time you clocked in. Clock-in events require an active connection to sync.
  2. Open the Employee Portal and pull down to refresh the attendance history.
  3. If the record still doesn’t appear after a few minutes, try clocking in again (if you’re still at the start of your shift) or contact your HR admin to add the record manually.

Schedules

Symptom: Your schedule has been updated or published, but you haven’t received a notification on your phone.Solutions:
  1. Make sure the Houra Employee Portal is installed as a PWA on your home screen. Notifications only work reliably when the app is installed — not just opened in a browser tab.
  2. Check your device’s notification settings: go to Settings → Notifications and make sure notifications are enabled for your browser or the Houra PWA.
  3. On some devices, Do Not Disturb or Focus modes silently block notifications — check whether one of these modes is active.
  4. Ask your HR admin to confirm that your account has notifications enabled on their end.
Symptom: Your published schedule displays hours that don’t match what was agreed with your manager.Solution: Contact your manager and ask them to review the schedule in the Houra admin panel. They can edit your shift times directly in Schedules → [Your Name] and republish. The corrected schedule will appear in your Employee Portal immediately after saving.

Requests & Payroll

Symptom: You submitted a time-off request, advance request, or another type of HR request, and it has been sitting as Pending for longer than expected.Solutions:
  1. Check whether your manager has received a notification about the request — they may have missed it.
  2. Remind your manager to review and approve or reject it from Requests in the admin panel.
  3. If your manager has approved it but the status hasn’t changed, contact your HR admin — they can manually update the status or investigate a technical issue.
Symptom: Your advance request was approved, but the amount doesn’t appear as a deduction on your payslip.Solutions:
  1. Allow for normal payroll processing time — advances are typically reconciled at the next payroll run, not immediately.
  2. Confirm with your HR admin the date the advance was approved and which payroll period it applies to.
  3. If the advance is missing from a payslip that has already been processed, contact your HR admin so they can review and correct the payroll record.

Campus

Symptom: You complete lessons or modules in Houra Campus, but your progress resets or doesn’t appear when you return.Solutions:
  1. Make sure you have a stable internet connection while completing course content. Progress is saved in real time and requires connectivity.
  2. Avoid closing the browser tab mid-lesson — wait for any progress indicator to confirm the save before navigating away.
  3. Refresh the page and check whether your progress has been recorded. If it has reset completely, contact your HR admin to report the issue.
Symptom: You finished all modules and passed any required assessments, but your certificate hasn’t been issued.Solutions:
  1. Confirm that you completed all required modules and any final assessments — some courses require a passing score on a quiz before the certificate is triggered.
  2. Wait a few minutes and refresh your profile — certificate generation can take a short time after final completion.
  3. If the certificate still hasn’t appeared, contact your HR admin. They can verify your completion status in Campus and manually trigger the certificate if needed.
